Temporary Text Collective
Temporary Text Collective is an ongoing and continually evolving community art project. Through workshops, community members design text and imagery based magnets that highlight important aspects of that communityβs culture. This text and imagery references jargon/colloquialisms, native flora and fauna, places, culinary history, traditions, and more. Once the magnets are created they are installed in the community landscape on bands of galvanized steel. Passersby are encouraged to rearrange the magnets to create short poems and composite images. Workshops have been carried out in New Orleans, LA, Des Moines, IA, Dallas, TX and Arlington, TX.
Created in collaboration with and with help from: students in Des Moines, IA, students in New Olreans, LA, SGCI members, Christine Adame, Nancy Palmeri, Eric Lynn, Ruby Troyano, Michelle Peck
